Cleantech now represent 10% of portfolio
(10.4.2007) At present stage, 10% of SEED Capitals portfolio consists of cleantech-oriented companies. Stirling Denmark is unquestionably a significant profile in this sector.
Stirling Denmark is the world's first and only provider of a CO2 neutral combined heat and power plant, based on a biomass fired Stirling Engine.
The increasing prices of fossil fuels and lack of sustainable bio alternatives on the global energy market give Stirling Denmark a unique position on the world market.
CEO, Lars Jagd explained the potential of the technology to the Danish newspaper Børsen who along with other venture capital oriented news services is starting to pay an increased interest in the perspectives of clean tech (published: 30 March 2007) .
The increased interest is traceable in several parts of the world and is significantly one of the key areas for Danish venture capital. The public statements from Vækstfonden at the yearly convention for share and stakeholders in Øksnehallerne, Copenhagen, support this point of view. SEED Capital, who often syndicates with Vækstfonden, aligns with this perspective and for some time has devoted significant resources for this area. The potential in Cleantech is substantial and SEED Capital has several projects in pipeline for recommendation of initial investments.
At the time being, no other technology is capable of delivering small combined heat and power units for bio fuels. The experienced research team behind the company is continuously conducting further research and adjustments for large-scale production with substantial success.
Delivery to large-scale international manufacturers is taking up large resources of Stirling Denmark's present activities. International manufactures and OEMs are becoming increasingly aware of this new alternative.
Founder and professor at DTU, Henrik Carlsen, is today recognized as one of the world leading experts and academics within applied Stirling engine technologies and his engine designs have demonstrated continuous operation on bio fuels, where all other attempts to provide stable solutions so far have failed.
At current stage Stirling Denmark have sold its first products in Europe and will maintain a strong focus for the reason that alternative fuel concepts seems to have the best social, environmental and economic awareness at present time in this region.
Well-documented Cleantech products as the Stirling Engine are of great value in the united effort towards a better environment based on sound investments and applicable technologies.
