Sense A/S is developing a patent-pending, non-interfering, low-cost blood pressure sensor. The sensor itself is wireless, needs no batteries, and is as small as a thumbnail.
The new sensor technology used by Sense A/S creates new possibilities for precise, 24-hour measurements in a non-medical environment, enabling healthcare professionals to take precise and durable measurements. The new sensor patch technology is superior to all traditional inflatable cuff alternatives in both the consumer and professional markets.
The Sense technology is non-interfering because the sensor is in a patch that fits the patient's wrist. The sensor patch is placed on the skin directly on an artery. The sensor information is read by a small transceiver placed in a waistband or in a pocket.
The sensor patch is similar to an RFID (wireless radio frequency identification) tag, enabling the sensor to extract the necessary power through a small integrated antenna form the transceiver.
The sensor patch is disposable and made from environmentally friendly materials. The Sense technology enables patients to be monitored in natural situations with negligible discomfort.
Sense A/S is developing its new technology in close collaboration with major healthcare and science professionals in Denmark.
